Last year, I had visited Makassar, South Sulawesi and spent my vacation after a business trip on the weekend. I had visited Toraja, Ramang -Ramang, Fort Rotterdam, Losari Beach and etc. But I had not had enough time to visit Bira Cape. I had promised to myself that if I visit Makassar at another time, I would go to Bira Cape. And today, I get my promise come true. Bira Cape, here I come. I’m very happy for this opportunity and finally to be here Bira Cape is located in Bonto Bahari Subdistrict, Bulukumba Regency South Sulawesi, Indonesia. It’s about 200 kilometers or about 6 hour trip from Makassar. From Jakarta, you should take a direct flight to the Sultan Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar. It’s about 2 hours flight. Many airlines, such as Garuda Indonesia Airlines, Etihad Airways, Lion Air or Sriwijaya Air offers flights to Makassar. To get to Bira Cape, I suggest you to rent a car or call your travel agent. On my way, I just went with my business partners. Except, you want to go there with backpacker style. Bira Cape is a long coastline and have many of the beach. One of the beach that I had visited was Bara Beach. The place where powder sands were spread widely. Besides that, you could go to the Kaluku Beach, Lemo- Lemo Beach and Tana Beru Beach where the Phinishi Ships were made. I’m a lucky one when I had visited in early in February. When the pick of rainy season. I just faced heavy rain when the night on the my way to Bira. Arriving in Bira Cape, I get a clear sky and full moon. When morning comes, the sun rise warmly welcomed with the bright blue sky. I think the perfect welcome.

I arrived at 09.00 pm after one hour trip from Bulukumba Regency where I have business with. Choosing a comfortable hotel was a first priority. Besides that, I had to choose a hotel with sea views. I drive around to find the best options in that night. I found a lot of the hotel with sea view at a price about three hundred thousand rupiah. The Hotel facilities were complete, such as air conditioner, 12 inch television, a hot and cool shower and breakfast included. Certainly clean water available even though the hotel is located alongside the sea. The morning comes, a quiet atmosphere obsesses my soul. The eastern horizon, I had seen the orange sky interlude with the grey colour. The waves dashed against the edge of Bara Beach. The moon began slowly disappearing in the west. Time was running, the brigth’s sun had come, the bright around me becomes clear. When a beautiful morning greeted me in front of my face. A fisherman was pulled his boat to the edge of the beach, while waiting for the tourists that want to go to the sea and another island near Bara Beach. I was lucky to come on weekdays, so lonely here. I can’t imagine if I come at the weekend. Probably a lot of tourists who come here.

After preparing in a hotel, I come to beach. I shouted in my heart, while putting off my sandals and played my foot on the unique sands. A grain of powder sands, clean, and outspread all the beach. I could not stop playing with the sands until my friend Abbas reminding me. “We have to hurry, we will go for snorkeling spot. The marine parks are waiting for us, so come on,” he shouted.

A speed boat slowly comes to the edge of the beach and the fisherman holds of the boat. We need to pay three hundred thousand rupiah, included snorkeling equipment like masks and snorkels. “ I’m sorry, I don’t provide the fins,” a fisherman told us. The boat engine was started and slowly faced to the high sea. I had seen a long beach faced to me with quite situation, it’s full of beautiful scenery caused blue everywhere, sky and sea. The speed boat shipped out quickly, the wind faced to my body. It’s wasn’t cool but warmed with sunshine. After shipping out about ten minutes, I arrived at the marine park. A group of fish with many kinds of colour and size were playing in coral reefs. A group of marine plants which is clearly visible from the boat. I can not stand it, I put off my clothes and put on a life jacket and mask. A few moments later, a half of the head and my body was under water. Playing with the fish in the unforgettable morning.

Until now, I still regret that I only had a short time and I had not come dive training yet. You have to dive here. And you have to visit Leukang Islet, near of snorkeling spot that I visited for playing with a group of turtle. One day was not enough to be here and I promised to back again in another time to take a sweet vacation with a special person here.
